Corilyn Shropshire is a business reporter for the Chicago Tribune. She has covered retail, philanthropy and the workplace. She also wrote several profiles of Chicago business leaders, including comScore Chairman Emeritus Gian Fulgoni and Urban League of Chicago CEO Andrea Zopp. Before joining the Tribune in 2011, she wrote about pop culture and social media at the Houston Chronicle and covered Pittsburgh’s burgeoning tech economy for the Post-Gazette. She lives in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood with her husband, daughter and dog

Mary Datcher, Senior Editor of the Chicago Defender

Mary has built her career as a diverse media professional. While she currently holds the post of senior staff writer and editor of arts & entertainment for the Chicago Defender, she has worked in print, radio and the music industry. Her well-rounded experience provides an insider’s view on tailoring the pitch to meet the needs of clients and publications.

Vanessa Abron, Independent Public Relations Consultant

Vanessa honed her public relations skills at notable agencies and companies such as Nielsen, Johnson Publishing Company and Hill&Knowton before striking out on her own. As an independent public relations consultant she provides her clients with strategic counsel on how to maximize their opportunities for exposure while building their profile and increasing their clientele.

Stacia Crawford, Founder of Stay Ready Media 

As a former television producer and chief media strategist for her own company, Stacia knows both sides of the pitch. She has in-depth knowledge of how to craft stories, build the narrative and prepare the client. Her behind the scenes experience positions her as an expert in diverse media strategy.

Corilyn currently serves as a business reporter for the Chicago Tribune, and previously wrote about pop culture, social media and the tech economy for both the Houston Chronicle and Pittsburgh’s Post Gazette.
